Moscow (SatireWire.com) – In a surprising show of support, Russian television stations today said they doubted President Vladimir Putin was attempting to crush dissent on Tuesday when he shut down the last nationwide TV station not run by the state.
“President Putin believes in free speech and I believe he does not wish that people should think only as he does,” said Igor Pravalov, news director of station KRG. “This not just my opinion. I have this straight from the President himself.”
In a televised conference to discuss the closure, Putin also denied the charges. “We believe in the free expression of views and ideas. You ask anybody,” said Putin. “No wait, even better. I save you the trouble. Here is a list of the people you should ask.”
